How long have you been a Jenny Craig consultant for?

Why did you decide to become a Jenny Craig consultant?

I have always been interested in nutrition. I grew up watching my mum on and off diets which I tended to trend with her even though I wasn’t majorly overweight. This is a trend I want to help stop in society by teaching mothers how to make their weight loss and eating a lifestyle so their children learn the right portions and foods to eat and don’t grow up with an unhealthy relationship with food.

It became my passion more so when I moved out of home and started running. I needed to fuel my body with the right foods and regularly and learn that fad diets weren’t sustainable. Otherwise my body wouldn’t give me the fuel to be able to keep running.

I also found that when I was norishing my body with the correct foods I was a much happier person, encouraging me to make it a lifestyle.

What do you love about your job?

I love being able to see clients evolve. To see them walk with confidence, with a genuine smile on their face. For them to feel like they can face the world and all it’s challenges with the energy they need to get through the day without turning to food for their emotional support.

How do you celebrate your client’s wins?

We have a bell that we ring near the scales. It is there to not only let the client know they have done an incredible job but so the rest of the centre can celebrate too because it’s a combined effort not just from myself and the client but the whole team working behind us. Some clients and I also do a bit of a happy dance which is so much fun although generally it’s more me dancing.

What has been your most satisfying moment as a consultant so far?

When one of my clients told me that from what she has learnt from Jenny Craig and the skills she has implemented at home, her husband and her son had both lost weight and were feeling happier and healthier. As a family they had started forming healthier relationships with food and spending more time together by incorporating exercise. Her son was getting teased less at school and he had made more friends because his confidence had improved.

This is the kind of impact I want to have through this job. And ideally one day have a world that just knows what to eat, where it’s a lifestyle, where no one is needing to lose weight and where I’m out of a job.
