hints-and-tips

As life starts to get back to a new COVID normal and with December festivities fast approaching, now’s the time to start planning how to navigate social events while on Jenny Craig. Whether you’re feeling excited or a little nervous, speak with your Coach who can help you develop a plan for your events. Here are our tips to help you stay on track with your weight loss goals and enjoy your social occasions!

Plan your food and drink

It’s often easy to overindulge in both food and drink at social events which is why it’s best to have a plan beforehand. If your event is providing food, consider having your Jenny Craig meal before attending and have your grocery serves and extra non-starchy vegetable free foods at the event. Or if you can take a plate to your event, take a salad or fruit platter to share. Check out the Jenny Craig blog for healthy recipe ideas.
During weight loss it is advised to limit your alcohol intake due to its high kilojoules and it is recommended to consume no more than 2-3 standard drinks per week. During social situations this quantity or even more can often be consumed throughout a single event. It is important to be mindful of this and have a plan. Perhaps you could be the designated driver for the event or alternate your alcoholic drinks with a glass of water. Another strategy is to have diet soft drinks with a slice of lemon or lime, to help make you feel like you are a part of the festivities.

Keep up the physical activity

To help you stay on track with your weight loss goals, it is important you continue to stick to your exercise routine. If you have increased your food or drink intake at a social event, try to increase your physical activity to help compensate these extra kilojoules. Why not head to the dance floor to help burn off some of the kilojoules or take an extra lap around the shops or your local park. Ask your Jenny Craig Coach for some suggestions on how to incorporate some new fun activities to mix up your exercise routine.

Stay motivated

You may feel your motivation changes when a social event is approaching, stay positive and remember how far you’ve come on your weight loss journey and congratulate yourself for all you’ve learnt about healthy eating and healthy portions. Have a photo of yourself showing where you want to be at goal and look at it whenever you feel your motivation slipping. Book in your coaching sessions ahead of time and keep them, even if you feel you haven’t had a good week, attending your coaching session will re-motivate you to continue working toward your goals.
