Jenny Craig meals make it simple for you to enjoy healthy and tasty meals at home – and to lose weight. But what if you happen to be away from home? That’s one of the challenges our clients identify with social gatherings and events, it’s a good time to review some handy tips for eating healthily away from your home.
First of all, Jenny Craig is all about support. Many of our consultants were clients to begin with, so we understand your challenges, and more importantly we’re excited to help you achieve your goals. If you’re worried about eating healthily outside your home, why not talk to your Jenny Craig consultant about your concerns. We can chat about how to enjoy social activities without overindulging, how to manage that plate of sweets being passed around at work, and how to eat well at restaurants and dinner parties.
Meanwhile, planning is important. What kind of situation will you be in where you’re away from home? A restaurant? A friend’s for dinner? You can use the knowledge about healthy eating you learn at Jenny Craig to make smart choices. If you’re at a restaurant, remember you don’t have to eat everything that’s on your plate. You can take food home with you. You can always split meals or dishes with friends or loved ones. If you feel like getting a dessert, why not just stick with a few bites, and share it with the whole table?
Another factor is the choices you make, and this applies to both being out at a dinner and parties. Choose dishes with less kilojoules to fill you up: plenty of non-starchy veggies; steamed or baked foods instead of fried; a tomato-based sauces instead of something drowning in cream. Lighter options can be just as tasty and enjoyable as the alternative.
It’s also useful to keep in mind that if you spend less time worrying about what you’re eating, you can spend more time thinking about what’s available and appeals to you. Start with a small portion before deciding if you want more or if you’re really hungry. You can also think about the reasons you might be out for a meal or at a party: to enjoy the company of friends and colleagues, celebrate a holiday, have a laugh and be together. It doesn’t need to be about the food!
Finally, what Jenny Craig is not about is a strict set of requirements and rules that might make you feel like rebelling! In the same way that we advise clients who like a glass of wine to not cut it out entirely, but to drink a glass occasionally in moderation; if you’re out of your home, you don’t have to feel guilty about enjoying your favourite food or treat. Just act with moderation: really savour and enjoy what you’re having and don’t go overboard.
So if you’re socialising, enjoy yourself, and remember, we’re always here to talk about how you can enjoy yourself and maintain your healthy lifestyle and relationship with food.
