How to achieve health goals alongside your busy lifestyle.
Being a mum is a full time job. It takes time, energy, and with a family to look after you unfortunately end up sacrificing your own well-being. Finding the time to deal with your health is probably right down at the bottom of your priority list, and with so much on your plate, it’s really easy to let weight gain get the better of you.
But making some simple lifestyle changes and squeezing in time for simple exercise can go a long way, so we’ve gathered together some easy tips to help you get on track and lose weight.
Give yourself time to exercise – at home
We know, it’s easier said than done, you often don’t have the time in your day to spare. But to make it a little easier, start working out at home.
Even allocating yourself 30 minutes once or twice a week will make a big difference to your weight loss journey, and working out around your home means you’ll be able to keep watch over the kids or quickly get back to your busy routine!
1.Take your kids for a walk or run
Even if it’s just around the block, the fresh air will feel a lot better than being stuck at home all day. Get your kids in the pram and get outdoors – the kids will love it too!
2. Invest in some at-home gym equipment.
For those new mums who’s day-to-day schedules aren’t exactly predictable, investing in some at-home gym equipment is a great way to make exercising more accessible to you. Using a treadmill or cycle machine is perfect in getting some cardio exercise done at home.
3. Use your body as your weights.
When doing your work-outs at home, you don’t always need a full assortment of gym equipment. Using your bodyweight to do simple work-outs at home means you’re able to get some exercise done quickly and efficiently.
Get your eating on track
We know it’s easy to slip into a routine of eating take-out, or pulling together quick meals that don’t often give you the nutrients you need.
Especially when you’re trying to lose weight, it’s important to give your body healthy food. It’ll mean you have the energy to fuel your busy life.
1.Plan your meals in advance.
Sit down, and plan what you’re going to be cooking each day. If you take some extra time at the start of your week to thoroughly plan your meals, you’ll be prepared to cook a healthy meal for your family and yourself.
2. Slow down, and be mindful.
When you’re eating more slowly, your brain is given the time to realise that it’s full. When eating your healthy meals make sure you’re being mindful and taking the time to notice if you’ve had enough.
3. Organize your eating.
Did you know that the time of day you eat food has a huge impact on your digestion? Eat your meals at the same time every day. The later you eat at night, the less your digestion system will work properly, so try not to eat any meals later than 9pm. Try and keep 12 hours in between your last meal of the day and your first meal of the next.
Empower yourself and start hitting your weight loss goals
As a mum, it’s not always easy finding the time to treat yourself with care. But giving your health space in your priorities is the first way you start your journey to lose weight.
Don’t forget to ask your family for support, and get them involved in a healthier lifestyle, too!
